LOUVRE ABU DHABI NAMES SOURAYA NOUJAIM ITS NEW DIRECTOR

Louvre Abu Dhabi has appointed Souraya Noujaim as director, Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism announced Wednesday. She succeeds founding director Manuel Rabaté, who led the museum from its 2017 opening.

Noujaim is no stranger to the museum. She was its first scientific, curatorial and collections management director from 2018 to 2023, and most recently led the Louvre’s Department of Islamic Arts in Paris.

She takes over ahead of the museum’s 10th anniversary in 2027. “I am honoured to return to Abu Dhabi and lead this remarkable institution into its next chapter,” she said in a statement.
