Anthropic launches a Cyber-defense Program for Critical infrastructure and free AI bug scans for open source

Anthropic on Thursday announced what it calls its Cyber Mission. One part is a Critical Infrastructure Defense Program for the operating technology behind power, water and transport, with 11 founding partners including Accenture, CrowdStrike, Deloitte, Palo Alto Networks and Rockwell Automation.

The other is OSS Scanner, free periodic scans of enrolled open-source projects. Anthropic says the reports are generated by its models and sent without human review, and that it expects more than 90 percent of findings to be real flaws.

The company frames this as a race. "Our forecast is that in two years, AI will favor defense," it wrote, adding that in the near term that may not be true.
