Harpsichordist Jean Rondeau's Complete Louis Couperin wins Gramophone's recording of the year

Harpsichordist Jean Rondeau's "Louis Couperin: The Complete Works," on Erato, was named Recording of the Year at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards in London on Wednesday evening. It also won the Instrumental Award.

The set spans ten discs and a documentary DVD, recorded on historic harpsichords and organs to mark the composer's 400th anniversary. Gramophone called it "a statement of rare vision and confidence from both artist and record label." Erato was also named Label of the Year.

Violinist Isabelle Faust was named Artist of the Year, and her Ligeti recording took the Concerto Award. Pianist Dame Imogen Cooper received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Bamberg Symphony was named Orchestra of the Year.
